The "Social Circle" is a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.

’Tis the season for shopping, so this week, OnMilwaukee.com asked the Social Circle if it preferred enclosed malls like Mayfair or open malls like Bayshore Town Center. The opinions, as usual, were varied.

Which do you prefer? Use the Talkback feature to chime in. Happy holidays!

Sarah Berg: "Either. I try to avoid both if possible, but if I can't, then it doesn't make a difference."

Dominic Cheske: "I still like enclosed malls. Especially in winter."

Laury Corrao: "Town centers are cute, but come on. This is Wisconsin. It's gets sooo cold."

Patrick Davies: "If you're wondering if I'm fooled by the Bayshore Mall name change, the answer is yes."

Kat Froelich: "I prefer abandoned malls – no joke! They're creep-tacular!"

Marty Garins: "I feel they are the same. What really is the differentiation?"

Fred Gillich: "Third floor retail."

Alissa Gonyea: "Either."

Betsy Holmes: "Romero needs to do a Town Center zombie movie now. That's my answer."

Damien Jaques: "Town centers are less exhausting to shop, and they don't seem as soulless as malls."

Stacy La Point: "Malls. I hate walking outside in the winter which is basically the only time I'm there."

Claudine Lineau: "Neither. But if I have to, malls."

Elizabeth Meinz: "The mall is ‘too mall’ for me. Hate."

Paul Peck: "From a tactical point of view, a few well placed explosives at the driveways of town centers can effectively cramp the already limited drive areas, and can effectively trap large populations inside town centers already designed to discouraging people to leave. The ensuing mayhem can make it easier to set up ambushes for helpless victims as well as engineering several escape routes as first responders will have a more difficult time with containment. I think I prefer shopping malls as there are more places to take cover, hide and it’s easier for first responders to establish and contain a perimeter."

Jen Skladanek: "Neither. I prefer small local shops."

Jay Snowski: "Town Centers. So I don’t get stabbed or robbed in the parking lot."

Laron Taylor: "Town Centers are easier to get in and out and are less of a ‘hangout.’"

Timothy Twaddle: "Town centers are like Hollywood models of old neighborhoods, that were made in a factory and distributed in Walmart trucks from a centralized distribution center ... in Ohio. They are both cookie cutter, but the town center is like a replica of something that was valid at one time."
