Brush with it: Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Rechargeable Electric Toothbrush
It almost feels utterly ridiculous to write this. I mean, it is a toothbrush that is almost $200. Yes, you read that correctly. $200. The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean is apparently the toothbrush of choice for "those people" such as the Kardashians, Kanye, well ... you get the point. Even though I would probably laugh at anybody who ever told me they were going to spend that ridiculous amount on a toothbrush, I can't wait to get one.

Why, you ask? The reviews. This apparent magic wand of toothbrushes is nothing short of amazing. I will feel like I've been to a dentist for a through cleaning every time I use it? Sign me up. Plus, this bad boy has patented sonic technology that drives fluid to stimulate the gums through five brushing modes: clean, white, polish, gum care and sensitive. Umm, there is a quad-pacer that helps to ensure thorough brushing throughout the mouth! You even get a charger and a case! Well, I better at this price point. Either way, I'm getting this thing – note to Santa! – Carolynn Buser

Charge it: Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard
It’s amazing how the keyboard is the one peripheral we use constantly, yet most of use settle for a cheap, crappy or OEM model. Fortunately, peoples’ attitudes are changing changing, and lots of new options are now available. Right now, old-school manual keyboards are very much in vogue. I’ve tried them, but they’re not for me.

Really, my favorite keyboard is the one on my MacBook Air, but that’s not available for a desktop computer. And Apple’s stock keyboard that comes with the iMac is too small, lacks a number pad and gobbles batteries incredibly quickly. My solution is the Logitech wireless solar keyboard. The keys are quiet, "chiclet" shallow at 1/3 of an inch thick, and full-sized. Best of all, though, the keyboard never needs charging. The ambient light in my office more than does the trick. It’s a little pricey at $58, but for something I use hours every day, it’s totally worth it. Having tested many, this is by far my favorite new (non MacBook) keyboard. – Andy Tarnoff

"Coding for Kids" by Camille McCue, PhD
My son has gotten to the point that his interests surpass my knowledge in some areas. Many times he has asked me questions about how to write code to make his own games and apps and I usually say something like, "Um, is there a YouTube video for that?" Needless to say, when I saw this book I knew it was perfect for him. Although I plan to give this to my son for the holidays and, consequently, do not have his personal review, by thumbing through the copy I can already tell it's easy to follow and well designed. In fact, it just might be the missing link between my future-hacker son and the coding skills he has long desired. Uh-oh. Molly Snyder

Sip it: Luce della Vite, Perticaia Sagrantino di Montefalco and Tenuta Frescobaldi Castiglioni 2011
I recently had the opportunity to sample this trio of central Italian reds at a variety of price points and because all are exceptional, I figured they might offer some help for folks seeking holiday gifts for wine lovers or for planning your holiday dinner quaffs. The Luce della Vite is a blend of sangiovese and merlot from Montalcino (a town best known for its brunello, which Luce also vinifies), and is the fruit of a partnership between Vittorio Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi. It's a ruby red explosion of tannins and berries that is complex and velvety with a dose of vanilla. It is a truly fine wine. That's why it'll run you about $90.

Running about half that is the Perticaia, a 100 percent sagrantino from Umbria. Full-bodied and also packed with tannins, this red – which ought to age quite nicely – balances blackberry and cherry fruit with a great spice, creating a combination that, to me, is always a winner. Perfect for that Christmas roast or turkey or chicken.

Lastly, but not leastly – except in price (this one retails at about $25) – is the Frescobaldi, which blends cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cab franc and sangiovese. I love its bright acidity, its long string of developing flavors, from red raspberry and strawberry to a dash of spice and pleasing touches of chocolate and – like the Perticaia – cinnamon. Drink it now and enjoy every moment. – Bobby Tanzilo

Use it: VapOrb Ultrasonic Humidifier
My ultra expensive supposedly ultra nice humidifier no longer wants to work now that winter is here again. Fine. I'm going to go a different way and try out this VapOrb USB Ultrasonic Humidifier for $14.99. This doughnut shaped contraption floats on top of a glass of water and has a timer for overnight use plus an automatic shutoff for when you run out of water. This looks way easier to clean than that monstrosity of a humidifier I had – and no mold will grow in the bottom either. The reviews on it range from very very good (most of them) to oops, this thing sucked and almost killed me – let's hope I live. – Carolynn Buser
