Whole Foods announced today that the natural and organic foods supermarket will officially open its new location in the Mayfair Collection at 11100 W. Burleigh St. in Wauwatosa on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

That day, the new Whole Foods location will host a "bread-breaking ceremony" – the company's version of a ribbon-cutting ceremony – with employees and Wauwatosa neighbors beginning at 8:45 a.m. The new store will then officially open to the public at 9 a.m., with the first 500 customers through the doors receiving a Whole Foods gift card with a mystery value somewhere between $5 and $50 – and one customer receiving a $500 Whole Goods gift card.

"At Whole Foods Market, we have a deep passion for fresh, flavorful natural and organic foods and we are elated to open a store for the Wauwatosa and surrounding communities," said Whole Foods Market Wauwatosa store team leader Ted Beres in a press release. "Whether looking for high-quality meats and poultry or everyday pantry staples, residents from the health conscious to devoted food enthusiasts will find what they’re looking for. We strongly believe that food in its purest state – free of artificial flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, colorings and trans fat – is the best tasting and most nutritious food available."

The new Tosa location marks the third Whole Foods store in Wisconsin, with one located at 2305 N. Prospect Ave. and the other located in Madison.
