The 2019 Milwaukee Film Festival has fully taken flight, with today marking almost a week of movies upon movies upon movies. And speaking of taking to the sky, two of today's three picks are oddly aviary theme. (OK, "Plucked" is in reference to plucking instrument strings, not removing feathers – but let me have this half-committed theme!)

From a fear-inducing, wing-flapping horror classic from a master to a local documentary about a crazily bold crime and a star-studded indie gem, here are my three to see for Day 6 of the Milwaukee Film Festival:

  • "Plucked" will screen at 6:45 p.m. at the Broadway Theatre Center
  • "The Mountain" will screen at 9:30 p.m. at the Avalon
  • "The Birds" will screen at 10 p.m. at the Oriental Theatre (with co-star Veronica Cartwright in attendance)

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
