Andie MacDowell and Dylan Neal star on "Cedar Cove" on the Hallmark Channel.

Second season of "Cedar Cove" debuts this weekend

Starting tomorrow night, "Cedar Cove" kicks off its second season on the Hallmark Channel.

When the cable outlet tackled an adaptation of Debbie Macomber's series of books last year, I wrote that it was important to create niche content to build an audience. It seems that Hallmark has found a popular niche.

As the plotlines developed for the main characters and converge on the lives of everyone living in the fictional town, the primetime soap drama is created. There are moments of intense emotion threaded into light-hearted times of live that seem to work well together. This formula has proven itself to be strong across a number of demographics.

Luckily for the audience members, the show has found enough of a following to earn a second season. "Cedar Cove" is the first original production with a second season the network has ever had.

Golden Globe-winner Andie MacDowell stars as Judge Olivia Lockhart, Dylan Neal plays Jack Griffith, the main love interest for Lockhart, and the snow also stars Elyse Levesque, Charlie Carrick, Sarah Smyth, Brennan Elliott, Corey Sevier, Teryl Rothery, Barbara Niven, Bruce Boxleitner, Sebastian Spence, Timothy Webber and Garry Chalk.

The program is scheduled to air at 7 p.m. on Saturday night.

TV TOUR: Tim, Eric and Dr. Steve Brule, characters from "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network will be on tour this fall.

Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim, who play Tim and Eric on the show, and John C. Reilly as Dr. Brule, are coming to The Pabst Theater on Sept. 25. Ticket sales at the box office started earlier today.

AT THE SOURCE: Fox Business Network's "Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo" will be live from Federal Hall outside the New York Stock Exchange on this Friday and the rest of the Fridays this summer.

The special series will feature business leaders and industry executives discussing the latest on the economy and breaking market news. The coverage will air at 10 a.m. on Friday, through to Aug. 22.

TOO DISTRACTED: A video going viral this afternoon shows a Mexico City train operator playing Farmville while operating the mass transit vehicle.

Apparently he would leave the doors open longer at stops to give himself more time to tend to his virtual cows.

"I grabbed my phone straightaway because I knew no one would believe me, and I wanted to make sure everybody realized how we were putting lives at risk with idiots like this," passenger Carlos Segura Linares told reporters.

Just as it takes responsibility to create digital content for people to consume and interact with, there's a responsibility put on the person to only view or interact with it at appropriate time.
