Lulu's Underground Cinema (LLUC) makes its debut tonight.
In an event held at Café Lulu, 2265 S. Howell Ave., the freshly created local organization invites you to come for dinner and stay for a screening of several short films.
Tonight's premiere, themed "The Journey," reveals the work of one filmmaker as she creates three shorts for varying budgets of $1.3 million, $35,000 and $500.
"Memorial Street," "Onlyness" and "What's the sense U.S.?!" combine drama and comedy for truly independent filmmaking. The evening also promises the appearance of a special guest filmmaker.
Café Lulu and Capture Life Productions collaborated to create Lulu's Underground Cinema (LLUC). The organization, hoping to show films at Café Lulu monthly, offers filmmakers the opportunity to show their work onscreen in a casual and receptive environment.
In consideration of Lulu's "artsy" clientele, Capture Life Productions looked to the Bay View restaurant for the ideal screening venue.
Tonight's show starts at 9 p.m.
