"Last Comic Standing" performer headlines city comedy festival

A stage with a spotlight, a darkened room with an audience and one single lone profile is enough to build from to make a destination event. Add in some more people, a skit or two and therein you have a comedy festival.

The Milwaukee Comedy Festival will start off on Aug. 7 and runs through the 10, for the ninth installment of the state's largest comedy event.

Rob Christensen, who you may have seen on NBC's "Last Comic Standing," is the feature act at the fest, and will perform at the Next Act Theater at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug.9. Christensen has also appeared on "Adam Devine's House Party" on Comedy Central, "Gotham Comedy Live" for AXS TV and on "Quicklaffs on HULU.

According to organizers, others to check out include Wisconsin native Beth Melewski, who was on "Cash Cab Chicago," T.J. Jagadowski, with "TJ and Dave" and the film "Stranger Than Fiction," and the improv group "Three to Turn the Stool."

All of the events of the Milwaukee Comedy Festival will take place at the Next Act Theatre on Water Street in Walker's Point.

MOVING ON: Yesterday, reporter Jeremy Ross of WITI-TV Fox 6 said he'd be leaving the station.

"In August I'll be working for CBS2 in Chicago," Ross posted on his Facebook page.

DO THE HOT DOGS HAVE A FIRST NAME?: On Monday morning, Fox News will be presenting "My America with Elisabeth Hasselbeck."

In the short feature during "Fox and Friends," Hasselbeck will explore the history of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile and the smiles it has been bringing to Americans since 1936. The Wienermobile has evolved through the decades, including the automobile and the use of the Wienbermobile tracking app.

Hasselbeck will get a first-hand look at the vehicle while sharing some of the stories from those who are driving the Wienermobiles.
