Today, Netflix announced what's coming and going from the streaming site in the month of November. And I could focus on the bad news, like the fact that delightful children's films like "E.T." and "The Boxtrolls" will be removed next month or that "Major League" is leaving or that they've got a nice supply of horror movies – like "Cujo," "Ravenous" and the recent Purge-themed spoof "Meet the Blacks" – arriving just in time for Not Halloween.

But really, that would just be me being a jerk, because this is one of the best Netflix overall release lists they've come up with in a few months.

There's a really excellent crop of new films, like the low-key sweetness of "Paddington" to the special effects spectacle of the new "Jungle Book." But there's also some older gems mixed in like "The African Queen" and a collection of WWII Capra-produced propaganda news films that should be a treat for film buffs and history buffs alike.

The Netflix originals sound intriguing – namely "The Crown," which may be the "Downton Abbey" replacement you've been looking for. Plus, Milwaukee Film Festival fans who missed out on the Super Secret Members Screening should be pumped as well that this year's special selection, "Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You," will be available for streaming next month, too.

And prepare yourself for Thanksgiving, which offers both "Boyhood" and the new "Gilmore Girls" episodes to help distract you from having to interact with your family post-election.

Basically, there's something for almost literally everybody next month – which is pretty great considering some months, there's seemingly nothing for anybody being added. But perhaps Christmas has come a little early.

Here's the rest of what to look forward to next month – and what to stream before it's gone.

Matt Mueller Culture Editor

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
