Oriental Theatre reopens after cold closes doors

After locking its doors for a week, the Oriental Theatre has finally popped back to life.

The legendary 86-year-old movie house is back up and running tonight, with screenings of three likely Oscar nominees: Spike Jonze's lo-fi sci-fi romantic drama "Her," Martin Scorsese's bawdy "The Wolf of Wall Street" and the Coen Brothers' cinematic folk ballad "Inside Llewyn Davis."

The Oriental unexpectedly closed last Monday due to a broken boiler. The theater's original Facebook and Twitter posts cited a boiler malfunction, as well as the abnormally cold weather, as reasons for the temporary closure.

However, what the theater hoped would be a quick fix soon turned into a week-long project as it had to replace the boiler that heats the entire building.
