Ah, "The Bachelor." Isn’t there a certain satisfaction that a glass of wine and reality dating shows bring? Don’t give me that look; you know you do the same thing at least twice a week. The classic "Bachelor" premiered this past Monday, and boy, do I think this is going to be a good one!

I missed last season’s "Bachelorette" so I didn’t get the pleasure of being introduced to the perfection that is Ben Higgins. He totally has the tall, dark and handsome thing going very well for himself. Why the last bachelorette, Kaitlyn, didn’t choose Ben beats me, but I can’t judge if I didn’t tune in.

Ben apparently told her that he has a fear of being unlovable; I’m so confused as to why he would ever feel that way. Did you see that smile? Or his sweet and compassionate manner, even for the crazies? I found myself in la-la land at least three times during this season premiere. You know that heart eyes emoji? That was me the whole time.

But I digress: Back to the hunk of handsome man in question. Ben Higgins is a 26-year-old eligible bachelor from Warsaw, Ind. who’s apparently been a hopeless romantic from the beginning. He’s sensitive yet masculine, handsome, down-to-earth, family-oriented – the list goes on. He oozes perfection, and most of the girls expressed their same beliefs multiple times throughout the night.

Not long into the show, you start to realize who the crazies are. There’s Mandi, the girl who showed up with a large rose on her head. To add insult to injury, she rudely pulled Ben away from the group at inconvenient times. She’s definitely on every other girl’s radar, but I’m sure that she’ll dig her own grave on the show eventually.

The one who really made herself look like the stage five clinger was Lace, who drank way too much and made a fool of herself. First off, sweetie, let’s keep it classy and leave the physical activities for another night. Obviously Ben isn’t that kind of guy – you know, the kind that goes for the win on the first night? He’s too much of a gentleman who’s looking for something real and not instant gratification, so he politely declined Lace’s makeout proposal. Another girl pulled Ben away at this point, but he went out of his way to find Lace and make sure that she didn’t feel rejected. Goodness, I absolutely gushed.

After Ben went out of his way to make sure she’s okay, Lace made it known that she was upset that he didn’t make enough eye contact with her. Lace, you got a rose, so take a seat (or two) before you further embarrass yourself!

The plot twists of the season thus far are the twins, Emily and Haley, and the returning veterans, Becca and Amber. Becca let it be known that she’s waiting until marriage before sex from her last "Bachelor" journey. Lace was so upset by Becca’s arrival and responded with something to the effect of no one really wanting a virgin. This Lace girl really doesn’t get the concept of keeping your mouth shut if you have nothing good to say.

Olivia, the former news anchor who left her job to be on "The Bachelor," won Ben over with her compelling story, beauty and personality. She seems like the perfectly put together woman, but something tells me that this chick can’t be trusted. It might’ve been the suggestive previews of the season that made her seem like an evil and conniving biotch, but who knows. Olivia received the very first rose, so I think that really sets the tone of who may or may not be a threat to everyone else.

Seven girls got the axe, but I can’t seem to recall most of them. I know that one came with a pony, and the other said that gluten was the devil – so you know that she was on my bad list already.

There are 21 ladies remaining, and I can’t wait to see how this plays out! Out of the whole group, my favorites are (in no particular order) Caila, Jubilee, Lauren B. and Sam. Olivia is still to be determined if she deserves a spot on Zoe’s list. Since I’m not in the running for such a stud, I have to make sure that he gets the next best thing.
