Led by local, award-winning filmmaker Tate Bunker, a group of 13 film and video artists host a networking and gala event in support of its latest and yet-to-be-completed feature film.

The evening is called "TRANSFER" and it happens this Thursday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. at Art Bar, 722 E. Burleigh St. In exchange for an advanced screening of the untitled film -- a story that begins with two investigators who find a small girl on the side of the road -- the group is seeking financial support to finish the project.

"We were looking for alternative ways to raise money and also awareness for Milwaukee's thriving independent film scene," says filmmaker Adam Deniston, who has been with this project from the beginning. "This event will be a great way for people to meet with other working professionals in Milwaukee. Transfer ideas, transfer support -- it's all about helping each other out and working as a community."

There'll be a fully-catered tapas menu, drinks, a DJ, art raffles and a silent auction, all donated by several local businesses and artists. They're asking a $6 donation at the door.

Here's to Milwaukee's ever-growing indie film scene.
