As we roll through the last quarter of the year, we will notice very few changes for most media outlets as they maneuver and buckle in for the rest of the year. September is really the last month radio and TV stations will make strategic staffing or scheduling changes.

Earlier this month on TV, we saw new local and national syndicated programs take to the air in hopes of gaining an audience before the November sweeps period. This is the sweet spot in the medium, where new shows will debut and older ones will find ways to stay active and work on a proven formula.

In the Milwaukee market, the smaller October sweep will be measured to truly look at the different demographics each station or cluster of stations is truly aiming for. Then in November – and an election month – the larger sweeps will take place to allow outlets to measure overall performance and secure sales that would set the rates for the following year.

About the only changes we will see between October and the end of the year would be the cancellation of a show that wasn’t well received in the first couple of weeks on the air.

For radio, it isn’t as cut and dry. Personal People Meters are the rule here in Milwaukee, meaning every month is measured to determine audience frequency and reach. So, like always, stations could make a strategic staffing or programming change on the fly.

I know that in the past few years all the rage was predicting which station would switch over to a Christmas music playlist earlier than its peers.

The August sweeps for local radio stations finished with county music station WMIL-FM 106.9 in the top spot with a rating of 11.9. In second place was WTMJ-AM 620 with an 8.9, in third was oldies station WRIT-AM 95.7 with a 7.0, and rounding out the Top 5 were WMYX-FM 99. 1 with 5.7 and WISN-AM 1130 and WXSS-FM 103.7 tied with 4.8 apiece.

ISIS: FOX News Channel will present a one-hour special, "Greta Investigates: ISIS," hosted by Greta Van Susteren at 9 p.m. on Saturday. During the special, Van Susteren will reveal new details about ISIS’ self-proclaimed leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi as well as explain how ISIS dominates social media in a way that has surpassed Al Qaeda. Additionally, Van Susteren will investigate those recruiting for ISIS here in America.

MORE CELEBRITY NEWS: Earlier this month, when "TMZ Live" started its new season on WITI-TV Fox 6, the first airings were up and better performed than the show did last fall. According to the station, the ratings of 2.1 on Sept. 8 and 2.4 on Sept. 9 did better than its next largest audience of 1.8 in October and November of 2013.
