Nicolas Cage's sci-fi adventure, "Knowing," topped the box office battle this weekend with a North American gross of $24.8 million.

Cage stars as an astrophysicist who decodes an encrypted prophecy of global doom and races to save the world from cataclysm.

Cage has been in nine No. 1 films since 1997.
