Since OMC last spoke to Milwaukee R&B singer Cincere, a lot has happened with the young prodigy. He's working on a new album, "The Definition Of Cincere," and is building a reputation nationwide. On July 7, he opens for Chris Brown at Summerfest.
Currently on independent Visualante Records, Cincere has been touring relentlessly in the hopes of landing on a major label deal. Last Thanksgiving, he opened for Patti LaBelle in Houston at the Bayou Classic football game between Grambling State and Southern University.
While playing a 69,000-seat football stadium might be considered a career capper for some, Cincere has kept moving. He is part of a promotion with Virgin Vines, a wine company owned by the international media conglomerate Virgin Enterprises. Each bottle comes with a digital card that allows the customer to download free music. This is part of an effort to get Cincere's name out there with an older crowd.
"He can appeal to 12- and 13-year-olds, but also their parents," says Karen Ottoson, Cincere's publicist. "He has that crossover appeal."
He also recently attended the 2006 BET Awards in Los Angeles, and may be performing at Austin's famed South by Southwest music festival next spring. Cincere may have nationwide goals, but he'll always remember where he came from.
"There are a lot of folks in Milwaukee who have made a major difference in my career over the past couple of years."

Tyler Casey was born and raised in the Twin Cities, but hes lived in Milwaukee for the last four years working and going to school. A senior at UWM with one semester left before he gets his print journalism degree, Tylers grown incredibly fond of his new city and hopes to stay here for good. Despite retaining certain customs of his fatherland (Tyler bleeds purple and gold), he considers Milwaukee his home. Spending most of his time on the East Side, Riverwest and Downtown (as well as wherever the nearest bus line can take him), Tylers always looking to experience what the city has to offer.
