Hudson is a band with many faces, and on Sat., Dec. 8 they showed all of them at The Social. With six years of performing under their belt, the band has perfected its innovative sound and now is moving forward.

The band members grew up with many different musical influences and together they bring all these different styles to the table. Hudson mixes the best parts of jazz, funk, R&B and rock to create "groove" music that rocks hard. Starting off as an all-instrumental jazz band, over the last year Hudson has taken their music in a new direction by experimenting with more progressive rock sounds.

This Milwaukee-based band includes Bryan Mir on lead guitar, Matt Meixner on keyboards, Paul Jonas, formerly of Helena Handbasket, on bass and Matt Liban, son of Milwaukee blues veteran Jim Liban, himself something of a veteran by now, on drums. Meixner, Liban and Jonas, along with a guitarist and singer, also play in a novelty lounge band called 5 Card Stud.

Hudson has recorded one instrumental album, "On," available at The Exclusive Company, Atomic Records and Rush-mor. Hudson's next gig will be Wed., Jan. 9 at The Nomad.
