Mayer Summerfest concert announced

John Mayer announced his first major tour in three years and it will kick off on Saturday, July 6 at Summerfest. The news was announced during a Google+ Hangout earlier tonight.

Mayer, who was suffering from throat issues and unable to tour, will visit over 40 cities in four countries in support of his 2012 album, "Born and Raised."

Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 30 at noon and include Summerfest admission. Tickets can be purchased at the Summerfest Box Office, Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, Walmart stores, online at Ticketmaster.com and by phone at (800) 745-3000 or (866) 448-7849.

Summerfest is introducing a new attraction that will allow festival-goers to rent paddleboats and travel around the northern portion of the lagoon between Henry Maier Festival Park and Lakeshore State Park, under the Lakeshore State Park bridge and into the marina near Discovery World.
