Little Big Town coming to Turner Hall

Little Big Town is scheduled to play at Turner Hall on Saturday, Oct. 29; the doors for the show open at 7 p.m.

Little Big Town is touring in support of their new album, "The Reason Why."

Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday, Aug. 5 at noon., and are $15 for general admission, cabaret seating.

Braunger and Pemberton

Funny or Die and Old Milwaukee are bringing stand-up comedians Matt Braunger and Johnny Pemberton to Turner Hall tomorrow night. Braunger is most known for his reoccurring role as Gene on NBC`s "Up All Night" and his Comedy Central special "Shovel Fighter." Pemberton appeared in "21 Jump Street" and "The Watch," and currently stars as Mason on ABC`s new sitcom "Family Tools." We got a chance to talk with the duo of comedians about the tour, memories of Milwaukee and messing with random people on the road.

"Idol" loses steam

"American Idol" has slipped from the top ratings-getter to the third competition show on the air. According to the latest numbers released by Nielsen, "Idol" finished behind both nights of "The Voice" and "Dancing With The Stars" last week.

Lest We Forget concert CD

It`s been nearly a year since the Lest We Forget concert last spring at Turner Hall featuring a full-to-the-brim bill of local veterans. The show was a manifestation of a Facebook page that began as a memorial for members of the local music scene that had left us too soon. Ron Faiola`s recording of the evening has been edited and spruced up for a new CD, "Lest We Forget - Our Night to Remember."

"Grease" at BAAM

I finally checked out Turner Hall`s Beer And A Movie (BAAM) series last night at Turner Hall for the "Grease" sing-a-long. I squeezed into a pair of leather pants I have not worn in years in solidarity of the show, and despite the 8 p.m. start time, I took my kids because one of them loves this movie as much as I do.

Tame Impala

For the most part, Tame Impala isn`t a very flashy band. Kevin Parker hardly makes any sudden movements except for some slight arm swaying and holding his guitar up to the sky as if he`s succumbing to the resonance he just unleashed on the crowd. Stage presence aside, it`s all made up with the simple but fitting oscilloscope styled visuals and stage lighting which erupted in color with every sonic melody played by the band. Had you been anything else but sober, you could`ve probably seen the waves bursting from Parker`s guitar.
