There's a lot going on in Milwaukee music this week and we've picked out four events that just might be worth your attention.
The Points East Pub gets the weekend started on Friday, Nov. 9 with a show by Chris DeMay and Aimless Blades, a band with a layered sound that encompasses country, punk and myriad other musical influences. Singer, guitarist and songwriter Blaine Schultz is a sometimes contributor to OnMilwaukee.com. Take a listen to "All I've Got," off "Standing at the Crossroads and Some of Them Are Dying."
You might want to consider reserving your Wednesday, Nov. 14 for an evening at the new and improved Cactus Club as the Von Bondies -- an indie band out of Michigan -- are in town. Milwaukee's The Danger open the 8 p.m. show and they're hear to tell you that they "ain't like the other kids."
Timbuk3 might still be best known for its hit, "The Future's so Bright I Gotta Wear Shades," but Milwaukee-native member Pat Macdonald has, thankfully, moved on. He shares the Cactus Club stage with local singer-songwriter melaniejane on Friday, Nov. 9. The duo will play together for the whole show, beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Twenty-five years ago the members of Sacred Order joined forces in punk rock here in Milwaukee. After a couple decades and a few break-ups and get-back-togethers, the band is regrouping this Saturday, Nov. 10 for a 25th anniversary reunion show at the Miramar Theater at 8 p.m.
