This morning, The Pabst Theater group announced that English singer-songwriter Olivia Chaney would be performing in Milwaukee on Sunday, June 14. In this case, the most intriguing detail for this gig isn't actually the performer; it's the venue: The Back Room at the Colectivo on Prospect.

When the building was converted from an auto parts store to a coffee shop in 1997, the back room space was used to house Colectivo's entire roasting and wholesaling operations. In 2008, those offices and operations moved to the company's Riverwest headquarters, and Colectivo began to use the new space for community events, such as panels and speaker events for the Milwaukee Film Festival. This, however, marks the first time a nationally touring artist will perform in the space.

Not that the musician performing isn't very exciting too. Chaney is an up and coming young multi-instrumentalist from England, where, in 2013, she scored a nomination for BBC Radio 2's Horizon Award for best emerging folk artist, as well as a nomination for Best Original Song with "Swimming in the Longest River." Her debut album, "The Longest River," was released on April 28 this year.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show (6 p.m. for the doors) go on sale to the public beginning Friday, May 8 at noon.
