Ritchie, Ragani organize Sikh Temple benefit

Milwaukee musicians Brian Ritchie and Ragani have organized a concert to benefit the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek at Shank Hall, 1434 N. Farwell Ave., on Sunday, Aug. 12 at 7 p.m.

According to a news release, "The Hindu based music of Kirtan with Ragani and Zen derived jazz of Brian Ritchie Shakuhachi Club MKE will calm and uplift concertgoers."

Performers at the show include Ritchie, Kirtan with Ragani, John Sparrow, Dave Gelting, Silas Ritchie, Michael Kashou and others.

A minimum $10 donation is suggested and all proceeds will go to the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin.

This past week, WISN-TV Ch. 12 found out that its ongoing coverage the Sikh Temple shooting in Oak Creek earned a regional Edward R. Murrow award and a Wisconsin Associated Press Award for "Best Newscast."

Sikhs, four months later

It has now been more than four months since the Sikh temple massacre. Amardeep Kaleka lost his father, Satwant Singh Kaleka - the founder of the temple - in the shooting and he says there has been a lot of grieving, but also the start of some healing over the past months thanks to communities, groups and individuals like MPS` Dale Weiss.
