Welcome to a weekly segment called "Social Circle." It's a group effort between readers, social networkers and the OnMilwaukee.com editors. Every Monday, we ask a question via Facebook and Twitter and then post the responses from our Facebook "likers" and Twitter followers in this column. Well-known Milwaukee movers and shakers will contribute, too.

Milwaukee is and has been home to a plethora of amazing musicians so it isn’t easy to identify the best of the best. However, when the Social Circle was posed with the question this week, they came up with a diverse array of past and present Brew City talent.

Who’s your favorite Milwaukee musician? Weigh in via the Talkback feature. And check out some live music this week, perhaps.

J.A. Arenas: "Sam McCue has supplied world class rock 'n' roll to this city – and the world – for 50-plus years."

Anne Bisone: "Competitorr! Wild Kingdom! Bamm Bamm!"

Chris Braun: "The Promise Ring."

Paul Braun: "The guy who wrote ‘The Chicken Dance.’"

Pat Buechs: "Sweetbottom."

Jeffrey Callesen: "Wild is the Kingdom, the Kingdom is wild!"

Matt Chmielewski: "Moxy Roxx."

Pete Christensen: "X-570 with Brad Dorn."

Paul Cielinski: "Herman Astro. Always fun live and their debut album rocks."

Jeremy J. Comedian: "Either The Wigs or The Yips."

Chris Cottreau: "Die Kreuzen. I shouldn't need to explain this."

Dianne Crowley: "Upside Groove Coalition."

Jeanne DeMint: "Those X-Cleavers! Oh, and Ernie Alvarez. Soooo much!"

Jessica Dwyer: "Liberace."

Roi Evans: "I miss the energy of Wild Kingdom, back in the early ‘90s, and Astral/Subastral, but I'm partial."

Russ Fascia: "Couch Flambeau, Spanic Boys."

Keith Gasper: "Enabler."

Eric Geiger: "Alligator Gun."

Susan Higgens-Larkey: "Gotta be (Paul) Cebar. His shows are as much fun now as they were decades ago."

Scott Jackson: "Paul Cebar. A Milwaukee icon. Paul never fails to produce fresh, original, soulful music. And Harvey Scales, the real deal."

Damien Jaques: "The Velvet Whip. Way ahead of its time. Psychedelic rock in the late '60s and early '70s. Cross-dressing lead singer. Incredibly entertaining in concert."

Brian James: "Violent Femmes."

Damien Jones: "Les Paul, and all the dedicated musicians that have inspired me locally. James Murphy comes to mind, as well as Hugh Bob, and the guys from Boombox Saints. The list is kind of long. We have some seriously creative and talented people in Milwaukee."

Phil Kirby: "Die Kreuzen."

Sara Konkel: "Kings Highway and Mike Stone Jazz Trio."

Joel Kopischke: "Willy Porter."

Kurt Latham: "Die Kreuzen, Cherry Cake, Numb Jitters, Umbrella Man."

Matt Liban: "My dad (Jim Liban) is pretty darn good."

Marlene Manske: "Bad Boy, Plumb Loco, The Royal American Show Men, Midnight Blues. I know, I’m showing my age."

Mike Mattner: "Myself."

Annie Oatmeal Minga: "Wild Kingdom – must have been that teddy bear that hit me in the head in the mosh pit."

Daniel Nathan: "Little Jimmy. Gotta admit, the kid had style."

Amanda Rose: "CIA (Caught In The Act). Amazing band and talented lead singer Jessica Franz Freiburger."

David Ruel: "Greg Koch and the Tone Controls. He can crank out the guitar rock like few people alive can."

Mel H. Russell III: "Well the whole group isn't from Milwaukee but the lead singer is: Arrested Development. Reason: the song ‘Tennessee.’"

Dawn Sanders: "Spirit Creek. They rocked."

Celeste Schulz: "Wild Kingdom!"

Jen Skladanek: "The Lovelies with Liv Mueller. Aside from being life long friends, Liv strives and  is/was constantly re-inventing herself. Her voice and lyrics have always touched my heart and she is self-taught, which also is commendable in my opinion. And Barbara Endes and Bill Backes totally brought it on stage every time!"

Scott Benjamin Solocheck: "Stresskid! Chesterfields! No, Stresskid!"

Anna Spankowski: "Couch Flambeau, Oil Tasters, Wild Kingdom, Skip Tracer, 5 Card Studs."

Lauryl Sulfate: "I should be self-promotey and name my own band, but I'm going with one of my favorite bands not just in Milwaukee, but in the whole universe: Competitorr! Also, maybe it's hackneyed, but hello, the Femmes?"

Jeanette Sunrain: "Colour Radio from the ‘80s. Still love them."

Marty Tripp: "Infinite End."

Steve Weinstein: "Uncle Vinty back in the ‘70s. Used to see him at the Kenwood Inn at UWM, back in the day. I heard Vinty died in San Francisco a number of years ago."

Laura Ashleigh Wolfe: "Go, Willy Porter!"

Sara Ziolkowski-Bredeson: "The Gufs! They are still amazing!"

Susan Ann Zuelke: "Fat Bottom Special and Katie Mack. Katie has an amazing voice."
