It was all well and great that Spoon graced Summerfest with its presence this summer -- good, relevant acts from this decade are always appreciated at the Big Gig. But let's be serious, the outdoor 102.1 stage was not an ideal venue for such a nuanced band. Now, how about the Pabst Theater on Monday, Oct. 8? Yeah, that seems like a good fit.
Sailing on the waves of the ultra successful "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" record, which came out July 10 (just five days after the Summerfest appearance), Austin's Spoon is returning to Milwaukee with opening act The Ponys out of Chicago.
Tickets are $18 and go on sale this Friday, Aug. 24 at the Pabst Theater box office, at www.pabsttheater.org and www.tickets.com, or by phone at (414) 286-3663 or (800) 511-1552.
Also announced: The Australian Pink Floyd Show returns to the Riverside, Tuesday, Oct. 23, to play the full-length "Dark Side of the Moon" at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 and go on sale Wednesday, Aug. 29 at noon.

The stuff I heard of Okkervil River didn't really 'grab me.' But I've been told their new album is exceptional though. I need to give them another chance.

if you like Spoon you should definitely check out another Austin band, Okkervil River at the Pabst on monday Sept 17. hard to describe their sound, but they've toured with the Decemberists if that helps at all. good stuff with a local connection as Travis Nelsen, formerly of Madison's Cool Hand Band plays the drums for Okkervil.

Alright got my ticket for early entrance. Can OMC get a very dedicated reader and his wife backstage passes?

Sweet! I would LOVE to see this show. Missed the Summerfest gig, but I heard the sound was off that night from a friend. The Pabst is really comin' through nowadays!
