Jeannine Rivers

Description:
Jeannine Rivers is a Classical Jazz and R&B singer-songwriter out of Milwaukee who discovered her love of performing at a very early age. Jeannine’s first music award was won in third grade when she sang Al Green’s song” Lets Stay Together” for a talent Contest. In the tenth grade she met her music teacher/mentor and life-long friend Kay Augustine, who encouraged her to enter the State of Wisconsin Solo and Ensemble Contest. For three years in a row, singing in Class B the first year and Class A the following years, she won starred 1st ratings in the local contests and then 1st places in the State Contest. During this time she studied with the acclaimed Diane Forlano under a Milwaukee Public School Scholarship

During an era when there are many female singers who are attempting to sing jazz, Jeannine stands apart from the crowd. A Wisconsin based vocalist who is making quite an impact on the Milwaukee jazz scene, she has a very appealing voice, the range of her rich sultry voice has been described as electrifying, powerful, vibrant, sonorous and mellow. Especially known for her suave jazz style and heartfelt soul, she is stylistically versatile, with a wide vocal range. Her influences include Diane Schuur, Stephanie Mills, Angela Bofill, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Barbara Streisand, and opera singer Leontyne Price.

Jeannine is a free-lance vocalist who performs with many different local jazz musicians in the Milwaukee area. Some of Jeannine's past musical endeavors have included Adekola Adelapo, Jesse Hauck, Ben Hans, Ernest Collins, Dean Lea, Hal Miller, Lou Cucunato, Ginny Smith, Tom McGirr, Don Lewis, Steve Peplin, Scott Currier, John Hefter, Julie B, The Paul Spencer Band and many others. Jeannine has jazzed Milwaukee with her voice for a number of years and has performed at venues such as Alioto’s, Allegro Restaurant and Martini Bar, Discovery World, Riverwest Commons, John Hawks Pub, Rory’s, Milwaukee Area Technical College and Summerfest.

Jeannine is currently pursing a formal education in music and is one of the lead vocalists of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Honors Ensemble, under the direction of Steve Peplin. Jeannine’s silky-smooth voice will slide right into your heart. For a bigger sound, the Jeannine Rivers duo can be expanded to a trio and/or quartet.

"Don't miss this thrilling, phenomenal vocalist".
