Not interested in watching the Packers trounce the Bears on Monday night? Hyde Bar Milwaukee will open its doors for the first time for Monday at 5 p.m. with "service industry night" at the former Rain Nightclub location, 906 S. Barclay St., just south of National Avenue.
Revamped as an exotic Miami nightclub, Hyde Bar features faux leather and a sound system ready to support a major dance party. Hyde will kick off its entrance to the Milwaukee club scene with a red carpet hair and makeup event themed "Expressive Mixology" complete with a runway platform, professional models and hair and makeup stylists from the metro area.
The event is being promoted as an opportunity for local hair and makeup stylists to show off their talents. The mixology aspect will materialize not only in cocktail glasses but in the designs featured on each model.
Each stylist will have been assigned a cocktail from a list of 30 popular drink menu items, including piña colada, sex on the beach, dirty martini, Alabama slammer, mojito, tequila sunrise, etc. and must style their model based on the beverage.
In addition to the runway show, hip-hop artist and Milwaukee native Cory Rocklen has been booked for the event.
Doors open at 5; the red carpet event kicks off at 7 p.m. No word yet on whether the "Jersey Shore" cast will make a Miami-inspired appearance, but the event is sure to inspire mixologists, stylists and club goers alike.
