Why Bar Month?

"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com – brought to you by Hornitos, OR-G, Party Armor, Red Stag, Absolut, Fireball and Malibu – is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun articles on bars and clubs – including guides, the latest trends, bar reviews and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

Sitting at Alterra enjoying a (nonalcoholic) beverage with Managing Editor Bobby Tanzilo, we're thinking about Bar Month. In the old days, when situations like unexpected asbestos removal at our office would drive us from our desks, we'd just relocate to the nearest bar, wi-fi be damned.

But life has gotten a little more lifey for us, so there will be no day drinking today. However, we can still think about why we love the month of February here at OnMilwaukee.com, otherwise known as Bar Month.

In fact, we've lost track of how many of these we've done. Four? Five? It all sort of runs together when it's fueled by booze, doesn't it?

We like it, from an editorial perspective, because it makes us think outside the box (of wine?) for new drinking stories, whether they be trends, recipes, bartender profiles or features that we wouldn't normally write in the span of one tipsy month. And, of course, we announce all the "best of" bars winners, too.

So, yes, OnMilwaukee.com gets very bar-oriented during February, and some of our readers have complained that it's too much so. We'll still cover our normal lifestyle and entertainment stories, but the focus will clearly be on nightlife. Then, in March, things return to normal, so enjoy the happy hour that lasts the whole month long.

In the meantime, we're gonna search for some working wi-fi. And if we don't find it, don't blame Bobby and me if we give up and park it a corner bar. It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
