I heard that Brookfield play zone Fun World is set to close at the end of November. C'mon Fun World, let's not be hasty.

Last fall I wanted to take my boy out for an evening of fun and headed out to a batting cages place in New Berlin that, despite having an active phone number and Web site, was no longer to found. After driving blindly to a few other places in the dark, we ended up playing electronic drums at Guitar World and eating gelato at Brookfield Square.

Only later did we realize we'd driven right past exactly the kind of place we had been looking for in our wanderings ... Fun World!

The address is 620 Elizabeth Court, but really it's on Bluemound Road, pushed back a bit from the traffic, next to the Eble Park Ice Arena.

Inside, there's a mini-golf course, a big arcade, an indoor Ferris wheel (not kidding!) and a system of tubes and "pools" full of bouncy balls. There are also snacks on hand, of course.

We went one evening and had a blast and returned a few times after. Just the other day I received a request to return to Fun World and have been thinking about going back in the next week or so.

Now I realize that we'd better get back there quite a bit in the next few months because soon Fun World will close, because the owner is retiring. And then we'll be back on the prowl for a great place for fun.

If we don't find it, we'll have a blast on the V-Drums and eating gelato (although not at the same time).
