ICC's Cafe La Scala adds breakfast and a lunch buffet

In what it sure to be good news for all those folks that complain there aren't enough breakfast options Downtown – it's something I hear pretty often – the Italian Community Center's Cafe La Scala restaurant will begin serving breakfast on Monday, Jan. 27.

The breakfast menu, which includes standard options like breakfast sandwiches, omelets, eggs, French toast, buttermilk pancakes, frittatas, a variety of sides and coffee, espresso and cappuccino, is served from 6 to 11 a.m., Mondays-Saturdays.

On Saturday a full bar will be available, too, serving up bloodys and mimosas.

"Breakfast places in the area seem to be scarce, so we decided to introduce another option to the community," said Gina Spang, president of the ICC. "We really want to cater to the local neighborhood and busy professionals who are looking for options for early morning meetings, a quick cup of coffee or a relaxing sit-down breakfast."

Cafe La Scala also adds a daily lunch buffet to its regular (and recently expanded) lunch menu, weekdays from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The themed buffet – Monday features Tex-Mex, Fridays is fish, etc. – is priced at $8.50.

Copious free parking is available in a lot directly behind the ICC, which is located at 631 E. Chicago St., in the Third Ward.

Menus, hours and more can be found here.

Buona colazione!
