Recently, I encouraged you to submit photos of Milwaukee arches via social media for a contest to win a prize package from Historic Milwaukee Inc. The details of the contest can be seen here.

Basically, there were no rules, because I wanted you to be unfettered. And I'm pleased to report that after consulting with Stacy Swadish, executive director of Historic Milwaukee, we have a winner.

Emily Tau – aka Jungbow on Instagram and on Twitter – posted this photo of the arch at the arboretum at Urban Ecology Center on the East Side:

And, to my mind, it's a winner for a number of reasons. Though there were a number of really great photos submitted, I liked Emily's because it's attractive as an image, the rays of the sun really make it a golden arch, and because I love the arboretum and the Urban Ecology Center and this arch.

But, most of all, I like that despite the fact that in my post I focused on arches on buildings – and especially older buildings – Emily looked elsewhere to find a gorgeous Milwaukee arch.

For her winning photo, Emily will receive a prize package from Historic Milwaukee that includes a free one-year membership to HMI – which includes free access to all regularly scheduled walking tours – a Doors Open Milwaukee pint glass, a Doors Open patch and bumper sticker and six passes valid for any 2015 HMI walking tour, to share with your friends and family.

Thanks to everyone for submitting their fabulous photos and congratulations to Emily!
