Pizzeria Piccola lands in Concourse C
Thanks to SSP America and its strategy of collaborating with local businesses, the food and coffee options at Mitchell International have never been better. The latest step forward – a Pizzeria Piccola in Concourse C – is again fruit of SSP's partnership with The Bartolotta Restaurants group.
Four million Air Canada, Air Tran, American Eagle and US Airways Express passengers – many of them potentially hungry – pass through Concourse C each year.
"We are thrilled to continue to build our partnership with The Bartolotta Group and General Mitchell Airport to provide authentic cuisine that accurately portrays the taste of Milwaukee to our traveling customers, said SSP America president and CEO, Les Cappetta, in a statement.
"Pizzeria Piccola will serve as a great addition to our existing restaurants."
Among those restaurants are a Northpoint custard and burgers and Nonna Bartolotta's sit-down Italian restaurant. SSP also partners with Alterra Coffee on three coffee kiosks.
"We are excited to open a third Bartolotta venue at Mitchell International Airport and hope our venues provide a positive message and experience for travelers coming in to the city of Milwaukee," said Joe Bartolotta.
"Additionally, we are proud to have a strong partnership between Milwaukee County and SSP America."

But the trip to the top of the dome of the Basilica of St. Josaphat on 6th and Lincoln was a journey unlike any I've taken before.

If news that local jazz musician and organizer Jamie Breiwick has yet another new release comes as a bit of a shock, you're not alone. The ever-occupied, constantly creating Breiwick is a musical force of nature. His new record, "Music of Thelonious Monk: Friday the 13th," is available only as a free download. Breiwick says the release wasn't something he planned.

Soulful blues outfit Tweed Funk is still a baby, formed just 18 months ago. But in that time, the quartet has become a household name in the Midwestern blues scene. Believe it or not, the group's already got a second disc ready to launch at a release party this Friday at Shank Hall. "Love Is" was co-produced by local guitar giant Greg Koch.
