I’ve never really considered myself a creature of habit in dining, because I am always wanting to go try "that" new place. But, as I think back over my dining habits last year, I am indeed a repeat offender. AND I love a good deal.

Here are five deals for five different nights of the week that are some of my favorites. I’ve been back numerous times to enjoy each of them throughout the year. Bon appetit, Milwaukee.

Monday
$5 pho at Hinterland Erie Gastropub

One of my favorite cozy bars in Milwaukee is the back bar at Hinterland in the Historic Third Ward. I love the dimly lit space, from the wonderfully weird wood birds on the tables to the large chalkboard wall decorated up with beer and drink specials. Mondays are my favorite, pho sho! $5 gets you a large bowl of the housemade pho, meat or vegetarian, that is steaming hot and sure to warm you this winter. Be sure to add the housemade sriracha! You can check out pho around town with our guide to it here, but will be hard pressed to find it for $5.

Tuesday
$8 All you can eat mussels at Triskele’s

If you’ve never been just south of the Allen-Bradley clocktower (it will always be called that to me) to Triskele’s, you are missing out. This small and intimate gem is always warm and cozy, and on top of that, the food is always amazing. Tuesdays it serves up two different kinds of all you can eat mussels for $8. This past Tuesday it had ginger lemongrass broth AND cilantro garlic cream. Enjoy a bowl of one, then go for the other.

Wednesday
$8.99 chicken and waffles at Ashley’s Q
My boyfriend is a southern boy (though slowly but surely becoming a Midwesterner) so we are always looking for some good local soul food, and Ashley’s Q has quickly become one of our faves. Wednesday nights, we stop down to satisfy our craving for the sweet and the salty. The special comes with two Belgian-style waffles and two hand-battered deep fried chicken breast strips. Add on a side of greens, and you will be in heaven. If you want to try some other waffles around town, here's our guide.

Thursday
$2 tacos at Bel Air Cantina

Everyone goes out for Taco Tuesday, right? Want to avoid the crowds and enjoy the same great fare? Thursday is the night to go. With $2 select tacos and tamales, $2 Dos Equis Amber and Modelo taps, $2 Modelo cans and Tecate cans plus $2 mystery tequila shots you really can’t go wrong with this pick.

Friday
Fish Fry
Go and have one. This is Wisconsin, after all. Need help picking one? Here’s our guide.

Saturday
Hanger steak at Hi-Hat Lounge

Ever had one of those Saturdays where you just want to lay around all day, take a nap, watch a movie, some crappy reality TV and then, all of a sudden, you get the urge to go out? A day just like that is how we came upon this delectable special in the Hi-Hat Lounge. The char-grilled hanger steak with red wine shallot sauce and fries quickly became one of our favorite Saturday night specials. We’d roll in around 10 "ish"  and order up a steak to share (at $18 is the highest on this list, but oh so worth it,) grab some cocktails and enjoy the video DJ for the night. Hi-Hat Lounge has recently changed its kitchen hours to close early, so make sure to not roll in toooo late. Please serve late again soon Hi-Hat!

Sunday
Brunch!
Here's your guide

Carolynn Buser Chief Content Officer

Carolynn Buser is one of Milwaukee's loudest and most adamant cheerleaders (don't dare try to disagree). She's the primary voice behind much of OnMilwaukee's social media and content direction, and apologizes in advance if she can be too sarcastic at times.

What else? She's a wine lover, closet trashy novel reader, beauty supplies addict and devourer of cheese (shocker for a Wisconsin born and bred girl, right?). She's also a bit of a foodie, which is a word most of you hate, we know. She works as hard as she plays - and that includes in the gym! So, you've probably seen her at one of the area's newest restaurant openings (and yes, she will share her opinions good or bad) or enjoying a cold one at a local pub.

All in all, Carolynn's a believer in positive thinking and will do her best to smack down your negative ones while writing about her city, her loves, quests and more.
