Summer weather isn't too far off

There is a nice stretch of weather ahead with the exception of a threat for light rain and snow late Wednesday night.

Expect dry weather with a warming trend from Thursday through early next week. It will be cooler within a few miles of Lake Michigan during the warming trend.

Normal high during this stretch of days is 60 degrees. We’ll get there on Friday and likely be above each day through next Wednesday. The first 70s of the spring appear likely next Monday and Tuesday.

  • Cloudy with a chance of light rain and snow late. No snow accumulation.
  • Lows in the mid 30s.

Cool temps and rain ahead

Temperatures are going nowhere on Tuesday ... in fact, they're falling as the day goes on. Expect rain Tuesday afternoon into early Tuesday night. We'll have some nice sunshine coming for Wednesday and Thursday, although it will be cool with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. The early outlook for the weekend is positive: both days look dry and warmer with highs Saturday around 60 and Sunday in the mid-to-upper 60s (both days cooler at the lakeside).

Are we ever going to get spring temperatures?

The nicest day of the week will be Monday and the worst day will be Tuesday. Expect a mild start and end to the week with unseasonably cool temperatures in between (normal high temp this time of year is upper 50s to near 60s). There is a substantial warm-up ahead for next weekend. There are a couple threats of rain this week but nothing like last week.

Light rain and snow showers ahead

There will be occasional light rain and snow showers Friday and early Friday night. We can’t rule out some minor snow accumulation on grassy areas.

Strong west winds gusting over 30mph Friday will gradually diminish Friday night. Sunshine makes a brief return Saturday only to be covered back up by clouds Sunday. Warmest day next week appears to be Monday, when high temps will reach upper 50s, normal for this time of year. Back to cooler than normal temperatures for the rest of the week

Highest threats for rain next week come Monday afternoon, Monday night and into Tuesday ... then again Friday into next weekend

The National Weather Service will issue a TEST tornado WATCH at 1 p.m. on Friday and a TEST tornado WARNING at 1:45 p.m. on Friday. The drill will end at 2 p.m.

The National Weather Service says the tests "will not be sent as a Wireless Emergency Alert on mobile devices such as smart phones."
