So the universe that is the Internet has led to plenty of connections to things you'd never get a chance to discover otherwise. This weekend, I was introduced to a Russian singer that happens to have a four-octave register. He -- yes he -- basically puts Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey to shame.

This singer is Vitas and he's really popular in his home country as well as a few Asian markets. Of course, you need to see him to see what caught my eye. Here is "Opera No. 2" courtesy of YouTube.com:

A little more trolling around YouTube led me to other performances and music videos, and I have to say he has some flair. The high notes and falsetto are his staples. And he tends to shatter glass in the music videos as well. Oh and if you don't believe that he's actually singing those high notes, one more video to prove it. This is "Smile," and the proof comes toward the end of the song:

I don't understand a word of Russian, but I cannot deny he has stage presence and an undeniably unique sound. I wish that his music was available in the U.S. at this time, but sadly it's not. His Web site states that he is going to start moving over into the U.S. market, though.

Originally from Des Plaines, Ill., Heather moved to Milwaukee to earn a B.A. in journalism from Marquette University. With a tongue-twisting last name like Leszczewicz, it's best to go into a career where people don't need to say your name often.

However, she's still sticking to some of her Illinoisan ways (she won't reform when it comes to things like pop, water fountain or ATM), though she's grown to enjoy her time in the Brew City.

Although her journalism career is still budding, Heather has had the chance for some once-in-a-lifetime interviews with celebrities like actor Vince Vaughn and actress Charlize Theron, director Cameron Crowe and singers Ben Kweller and Isaac Hanson of '90s brother boy band Hanson.

Heather's a self-proclaimed workaholic but loves her entertainment. She's a real television and movie fanatic, book nerd, music junkie, coffee addict and pop culture aficionado.
