If you're planning on checking out all the bike-related events happening around Milwaukee this weekend you better shift your front derailleur to the big ring and your rear derailleur to the smallest cog (or if you're a fixed gear rider, pedal faster) because this weekend is packed.

And wouldn't you know it? Not a grey cloud in the forecast.

The Times Cinema hosts the Bicycle Film Festival on Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m. featuring different short films, all variations on the theme of bicycles and the joys and pains of moving around life on two wheels. Perhaps two of the most anticipated films to be shown are "The Birth of Big Air," a documentary about BMX superstar Matt Hoffman (produced by Spike Jonze) and "Line of Sight," an intense look at fixed gears and alleycats by Lucas Brunelle. Speaking of BMX, a giant ramp is being erected at the Harley-Davidson Museum for a display of the next generation of American Stuntmen, featuring a BMX stunt show on Saturday and Sunday.

Participating cyclists include Chad Kagy and Brian Kachinsky, who earned gold and bronze in this summer's X-Games, as well as Nate Wessel and other notable X-Games atheletes and participants. Part of the days events will include a documentary about their performance and experience in a "Bikes Over Baghdad" tour for our troops in Iraq. There will also be a variety of bands, including headliner Quietdrive.

It's also your last chance to see True Evel: The Amazing Story of Evel Knievel" exhibit, which is included in the admission to the event.

Squeezed in between all that is the Tall Pines Conservancy's Ride to the Barns on Saturday, a ride to benefit land conservation in Wisconsin. This ride features two routes, one 62 miles in length, the other at 30 miles.
