Milwaukee UP: Jon Frost gives you a colorful EP for free

Sometimes when you ask for something, you actually get it.

Several days ago I did a post about Jon Frost's new single and I mentioned that he didn't have much material available to the public, despite being very talented.

Well I guess he took that to heart and soon after the post went up I received a text message from Frost that he was motivated to put out an EP in advance of his album, "Can You Hear The Colors."

The aptly named "Can You Hear The Colors (The EP)" gives you just enough of a taste of Frost's sound to get you interested in hearing the full length.

Again, Jon Frost – formerly Jonathan Frost – shows off his sense of humor, his catchy pop sensibilities and his retro-club sound.

Frost is the kind of artist that has the kind of music that could easily find acceptance around the world. Give his EP a listen and see what you think. He's released it for free as well, so you can't complain about that!

Here is a direct link to download the project.

Milwaukee UP: Are you going to see Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Keri Hilson?

On Aug. 9, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Keri Hilson, Far East Movement and Lloyd invade The Marcus Amphitheater as a part of the "I Am Still Music" tour.

That is quite the diverse lineup, containing of several platinum and gold artists.

Knowing how much Milwaukee loves these artists, are you planning on going?

Also, keep a look out in the coming weeks for an interview that I did with Far East Movement.

Milwaukee UP: Friday is filled with A Tribe Called Quest and few Bastards

Hip-hop fans have been hearing about A Tribe Called Quest's documentary by Michael Rapaport for a long time now, and slowly but surely it has been making the premier rounds around the country.

The documentary, called "Beats, Rhymes, and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest," is an award-winning film and an official Sundance Tribeca Film Festival pick.

ATCQ is one of the more influential groups when it comes to the sound of hip-hop and their discography contains several albums that are considered classic hip-hop albums.

"Beats, Rhymes, and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest" will debut in Milwaukee at the Oriental Theatre this Friday and is a must-see for any and all hip-hop fans. It is rated R for language, so parents and children alike, be advised.

Also, for those who weren't able to check it out, or didn't take the time to check it out, Dana Coppafeel and Reason – who are known as Know Flight Zone – are throwing a second release party for their album at Landmark Lanes this Friday. There is no cover charge for the show and festivities start at 10:30 p.m. The show is 21+.

Earlier this year, Coppafeel, as a part of his group KingHellBastard, released a tribute album to A Tribe Called Quest. So, if you decide to check out the ATCQ documentary, maybe take the time to walk a few feet from the Oriental to Landmark to check out the show.

Milwaukee UP: Streetz -n- Young Deuces show they have no "Fear"

Streetz -n- Young Deuces is one of Milwaukee's hardest-working hip-hop groups.

That work ethic has seen them gain an endorsement from Lil Jon's Crunk!!! Energy Drink, who also endorses Paul Wall and Pitbull. They've received an award from the Southern Entertainment Awards, as well as several nominations. They've gotten down with The Aphilliates, DJ Drama's crew, and have released mixtapes in collaboration with different DJs in The Aphilliates.

SNYD recently released a "street video" for their song "Fear." This track is one of the strongest songs I've heard from SNYD to date, who continue to improve with each subsequent release.
