Just because Milwaukee UP is done doesn't mean that I'm completely going to fall off of the face of the earth. When I come across something that I think is cool, I'm going to share it with people, because that is still something that I feel is worthwhile.

First, I must ask you a question: Have you seen the new music video for the Altos song "Altos, Altos, Sing (For Trouble)" directed by Sean Williamson and shot by Erik Ljung and Jon Salimes of Milwaukee's High Frequency Media?

If you answered "no" to that question, then you are certainly in for a treat!

The video shows the various members of the group, either waiting for something or searching for something and then at the climax of the short film ... nah, I'm not going to tell you. Just watch it.

If that wasn't already enough, Logic & Raze have released their Jack and Nick Packard-directed video for their song "Eye Gee Oh" and OH EM GEE this music video is something serious, fierce and frightening.

The editing is slick and even elegant when certain movements are combined to the rhythm of the beat.

Be prepared, these is a body in a body bag and that body does talk.

The idea of giving up the identity that I have cultivated over the last five years is a troublesome one.

I have been an active member of the Milwaukee hip-hop community since 2007 and my love for the quality and quantity of output from its finest sources only grew that love.

The love culminated, for me, not in my personal recording of music but rather in the spirit of coverage that I was tasked by peers to provide for the Milwaukee hip-hop scene.

A true labor of love the two-year-old blog Milwaukee UP has been for me; a constant love letter from me to you, the Milwaukee hip-hop community.

Never in the dreams of my dreams did I imagine a day when my passion for music, music on the whole, would reduce to a feeble whimper.

Beyond the Milwaukee hip-hop scene, I've loved music since my earliest days on this planet.

I clung to the radio and the few tapes I was able to obtain when I was first introduced to the Sony Walkman.

I did everything I could to get my parents to buy me CDs, or use my gift money for CDs, once I obtained a Sony boombox.

My passion led me to not only listen to the music but to read the liner notes and covet the magazines that covered those artists that I could listen to, and especially those that I couldn't.

Never a player of music, the sound emitting from my speakers was all that I could attach myself to and I attached myself entirely to it.

This knowledge of myself, my past and the part that music has played in my development – or lack thereof, depending on with whom you speak – is a reality that has recently become much more a discussion of my past rather than my present.

Love, a once passionate love, has now turned to a far more platonic love.

Of course it is silly to think of music as an entity that can love a person back, but in its thoughts, expressions and sounds, it often felt like it did love me, the listener.

This last Tuesday 88NINE Radio Milwaukee held their annual award ceremony to celebrate some of the best that the Milwaukee music sphere has to offer.

As they have in the past, they kicked off the event with a social networking party that featured a new wrinkle in the form of a new partner – Yellow Phone Music Conference.

For those in attendance at the networking aspect of the party, Yellow Phone was running a special on passes to their conference coming up later this fall.

For the performance side of the night, the radio station tapped artists that proved they were the right acts to book, as they were all finalists in at least one award category.

A solid performance was delivered Tuesday night by everybody on the bill, which included The Delta Routine, Boy Blue, Logic and Raze, Trapper Schoepp & the Shades and Jayme Dawicki.

Everybody wants to be loved and everybody unfortunately has to deal with the issue of heartbreak.

This is the concept that Milwaukee's Monster House has brought forth on their new song "Love Me," which explores the alternate universe of rappers SPEAK Easy and Panic's current relationships and the thoughts they'd have to deal with if that alternate reality were truly their present-day situation.
