Another East Side crumble

First Pizza Man, then the sink hole and yesterday a historic former tavern. Wow, the East Side can't get a break. Yet, we still love it.

If you haven't seen the corner at Humboldt and North Avenues, I snapped a few photos of the crumbled wall on the long vacant and former Schlitz tavern building.

The Schlitz Tavern building at Humboldt and North is significant as one of the major corner taverns erected by the Schlitz Brewing Company in the late 19 century.

A full history of the building is here. It's owned today by Damian Zak, who once ran a music club, Zak's, in the building.

I made a phone call 2 years ago about purchasing the property and his price was crazy! He is anothe useless slumlord in Milwaukee letting buildings go to waste while waiting for a pay day. Well Zak, have paying for this jerk. I hope the city takes alook inside and nails him for some more violations.

Zak ought to be ashamed of himself for sitting on that prime piece of real estate and letting it decay. I tried to buy it from him a few years back & his price was downright delusional. Landlords like Zak are the bane of our cities.

City inspectors just recently condemned that wall. Zak was getting ready to get it fixed. I think he might need to come down on his asking price for that place by a couple million.
