Forbes.com, using data from Milwaukee-based Manpower, reports on the best and worst cities "for finding a job this winter."
Milwaukee, our fine hometown, came in at No. 3 on the list. Forbes says the "survey revealed that the metropolitan area with the most optimistic forecast of all for hiring this winter is Baton Rouge, La."
Seattle finished just ahead of Milwaukee, and Forbes writes this about MKE: "The Milwaukee area trails close behind Seattle with a 14 percent net employment outlook for the winter. Milwaukee was once known almost exclusively for its brewing and manufacturing industries, but major developments over the years like Miller Park and the Frontier Airlines Center have helped to broaden both its image and its employment opportunities. Milwaukee is home to the headquarters of major corporations including Harley-Davidson, Johnson Controls and Kohl's."
Akron, Ohio; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Columbia, S.C., tied for the No. 1 spot on the list of the worst cities for finding a job.
