The menus bear a new name, so a few diners over the weekend thought John Hawks Pub had changed its name.  This is not the case.  Well, not totally.

But after nearly 20 years on the Milwaukee Riverwalk, John Hawks Pub, 100 E. Wisconsin Ave., has further embraced the Downtown waterway by changing its corporate name to Hawks on the River.

"We're doing business as 'Hawks on the River,' a server confirmed.

Ownership remains the same. Menus now read "Hawks on the River" but the restaurant and bar is still called John Hawks Pub.   John Hawks Pub opened its doors in 1971 in a basement pub location at 607 N. Broadway.
