A "Laverne and Shirley" movie?

Entertainment writer Paul Fischer is tweeting an "exclusive" today. Fischer says "Gary Marshall director of Valentine Day confirms he's developing Laverne & Shirley film with Jamie Foxx."

"Laverne and Shirley," of course, was set in Milwaukee and ran on TV from 1976-1983. Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams played the wild Laverne and the prissy Shirley.

There's no further information on the movie. But since Marshall created the TV series it's sure to stick to a similar storyline and hopefully will be set in Milwaukee.

34777 Subdude - No offense dude, but "... damage done to the city by the series..."? What are you talking about? Laverne & Shirley is a classic show that can't be blamed for Milwaukee's "downfall". What other TV shows or movies do you see out there today portraying Milwaukee in a good light? None.

Why doesn't Hollywood actually use some creativity and just think up something new for a movie instead of continually rehashing old tv shows and comic books? I don't see any scenario in which this movie turns out to be good for the name of the series or good for the city of Milwaukee. We've been ridiculed enough for this, leave it alone IMO.

Only if profits from the movie help repair the damage done to the City's image by the series...

With Jamie Foxx?! Wasn't expected that name. Hm, well see what comes of it. Wouldn't be against it but not sure how they would make it into a movie.
