I love this time of the year.  In my view, it can never be too long.  And, however you say "Happy Holidays," it should be from the heart and said with a smile.

But, there are Scrooges.  And while we gotta love them we should also do what we can to cheer them up.  So,

So,we’re happy to spread even more festive cheer with a creative partnership with local McDonald’s restaurants.  It involves free coffee and you nominating a Scrooge in your life.

First, McDonald’s is giving you - the frazzled busy shopper - another reason to smile with a free small coffee from Monday, Dec. 16 – Sunday, Dec. 22. The free coffee promotion is available all day long at all 125 McDonald’s restaurants throughout the 10-county southeastern Wisconsin area. No purchase is necessary, one per customer.

"We are passing on a little holiday joy to our customers and giving them a chance to take a break during a busy, and sometimes stressful, time," said Robert Pyles, president of McDonald’s Restaurants of Southeastern Wisconsin.

In addition, McDonald’s has joined forces with the Milwaukee Repertory Theater (Rep) and Rep carolers will surprise a few local "Scrooges" with free coffee and tickets to the Rep’s, "A Christmas Carol." The Rep’s carolers will be in full costume and prepared to perform. The surprises on the Scrooges’ faces will be captured on video and shared on McDonald’s Twitter account

Finally, McDonald’s also encourages all customers to surprise a friend, co-worker or even a Scrooge with a cup of free coffee and upload a photo of the gift giving to Twitter. One lucky Twitter follower will be awarded with a Rep ticket package and McDonald’s $100 gift card.

To nominate a Scrooge in your life, or someone that needs a little extra cheer just tell us via Twitter, Facebook or the talkbacks.  Tell us why and who, and this Scrooge in your life might just win a gift card and some holiday cheer.
