We're all still dealing with the hassles of the Groundhog Day blizzard of 2011.

One of consequences is, well, there's just not enough room to put all the snow. So, many intersections have huge piles and many parking meters are still difficult to get to.

I saw this meter (pictured) on Wells Street Downtown and asked Cecilia Gilbert, permits and communications manager at the Department of Public Works if a driver would be ticketed if he/she couldn't get to a coin meter.

Here's the official response, "If there was enough room for the car to park safely, they (drivers) should not be cited if they could not reach the meter. But (drivers) should call and let and Parking Enforcement know that the meters need to be shoveled out."

So, there you have it. Call (414) 286-8350 or click here when you see snow covered meters. And, let's all be careful out there. Park and drive safely, Milwaukee.
