For the ninth straight year, October is Dining Month on OnMilwaukee, presented by the restaurants of Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, dining guides, delectable features, chef profiles and unique articles on everything food, as well as voting for your "Best of Dining 2015."

I love BBQ like the next guy or girl, but have never had potato pancakes at the BBQ place.  This should probably change as Thrillist and HuffPost are raving about Smoke Shack's version of the flap jack that the restaurant in the Historic Third Ward serves only on weekends.

In a post called "The 11 Best Plates Of Pancakes In America," the Marcus Investments and Joe and Angie Sorge (Hospitality Democracy) – owned Smoke Shack, 332 N. Milwaukee St., makes the list.

Here’s what they had to say:

Smoke Shack
Milwaukee, WI
We love BBQ. And we love pancakes. But too often, we have to choose between the two. No more, now that this Milwaukee shop has played breakfast Tinder and hooked the two up. Sweet potato pancakes at Smoke Shack come two ways, both of which are essential eating. Though if we had to choose, we'd have to go with the savory stack topped with pulled pork and Carolina mustard sauce. The sweet ones – with mascarpone whipped cream, toasted pecans, and apple syrup – make a hell of a dessert, though.

Congrats Smoke Shack!
