SPiN Milwaukee marks two years, eyes Miami, Boston and Chicago
SPiN Milwaukee, 233 E. Chicago St., marks its two-year anniversary this week and today there's news that the table tennis club that's already in Milwaukee, New York and Las Vegas will expand to Los Angeles, Miami, Boston and possibly Chicago.
Actress and co-owner Susan Sarandon told indiewire.com this, "... (hotel owner) André Balazs is opening one in downtown L.A., and, then, hopefully, if that goes well, Miami. And we have another contract in Boston – and we're talking to Chicago and other places."
I first reported the story about SPiN's opening in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward in May 2010. It opened on Aug. 28, 2010 and won best new bar on OnMilwaukee.com.
After two years, SPiN is still going strong. It's a cool space, and as not only caught on with evening crowd but it's become a great family place, too.
Earlier this month, SPiN Milwaukee introduced a number of new menu items created by a new executive chef, Anthony Foster, a graduate of MATC's Culinary Arts program. Foster came to SPiN after having, he says, "learned from and worked with some amazing cooks and chefs" at The Wicked Hop, Coquette Cafe and The Capital Grille.
SPiN's two-year anniversary party is Friday beginning at 7 p.m.
