Fashion Night Out
On Thursday, Sept. 6, Fashion Night Out (FNO) will be in full force. Stores across the world will be finding unique and fun ways to celebrate the industry and its consumers by staying open for the ultimate shopping party. I couldn't be more excited with this years line up in NYC. Ultimately, my hope is to have a close cameo to Madonna (preluding her performance at Yankee's Stadium that I will be at two nights later.) Â I had a dream she appeared thru the glass partitions in the New Shoe Department at Barney's singing "Like A Virgin" just as I was trying on a pair of shoes.
The video below was released yesterday as the PSA for Fashion night out. Dareen Criss is singing a cover song of Madonna's "Dress You Up" Â with appearances from, Usher, Solange Knowles, Liya Kebede, Carolina Herrera and more. Watch it! Highly entertaining and for most NY women riding in a taxi with Darren Criss the next few weeks won't be so bad.
A quick little bio on FNO. It started four years ago in NYC in the oh so lovely 2009. It was designed to jump-start an industry battered by the global recession. Read this article from Reuters to fully understand the brain power that went into the first FNO and its quick rise to fame, celebrated today in 16 countries and 1000s of cities across the country.  And this year is the time for my family business to step it up by dressing it up. The hippest mom in town (mine) and owner of GIGI of Mequon brainstormed  with me on how to get new people flowing in the doors and excited about the evening. Our main goal was not sales, but to get people out and celebrating like its done in my town, NYC.  Immediately we recognized that it is the suburbs of Mequon and the city of Milwaukee are a far cry from the concrete jungle of NYC.  But we still wanted to get people out and show them that designer fashion doesn’t have to be intimating. Luxury comes in so many forms.
So Sing "Shameal Shmial" Milwaukee we have picked up the pace and have some fun things going on this year around town! The mayor officially declared Milwaukee as a city for Fashion’s Night Out. And MEQUON is celebrating by hosting its first ever Mequon's Fashion Scavenger Hunt for a chance to win two airline tickets and Several Tickets to various Fall 2013 Fashion Week Shows in February 2013, and a two hour personal shopping or concierge service with me.
So mark your calendars and join your friends to shop and hunt participating retailers in Mequon . From 4-8 p.m., each store will have their own entertainment and a hunt question for you to answer. From 8-10 move the party to Harvey’s mingle with models, with cocktails, and apps and music. At 10, the winner for  2 Tickets to NYC and Fabulous Fashion in the Big Apple will be announced live streaming from NYC. Like the Facebook Page  for more information and up-to-date info from participating retailers. Who says the suburbs are boring?

Recapping Fall Fashion Week 2012
Published Feb. 28, 2012
My last week came to a close after seeing over 32 collections from Fall 2012. Roughly that translates to over 3,000 pieces of clothing flashed before my eyes in about 50 hours' time. The week before that, I sat front row (or just about) at most of the shows I attended during NYC Fashion Week, and I can assure you that it is a sea of prettiness out there.
