Here's a quick Q & A with Brittney Grundahl of Stack'd Bar

OnMilwaukee.com: How long have you been a bartender?

Brittney Grundahl: Nine years.

OMC: What's your signature drink?

BG: 44 North press or a great micro brew.

OMC: What's your favorite Milwaukee bar (other than the one you work at?)

BG: The New Yorker, Hooligan's and Bar None.

OMC: How do you get good tips?

BG: I try to please all my customers, no matter what they want, to make their experience at the bar or restaurant amazing.

OMC: Have you ever cut someone off?

BG: Yes, probably once a week.

OMC: Do you believe in "beer after liquor, never been sicker; liquor before beer, you're in the clear?"

BG: No, I just try to approach with caution. Then I figure it out the next morning.

OMC: Are you more likely to go out for Sunday service industry night or Sunday morning brunch?

BG: I usually go out for brunch then catch up on my beauty sleep or grill out with friends.

OMC: Are you looking forward to the smoking ban?

BG: I think it will be a good change to the bar industry. People will actually be able to taste their drinks without lingering smoke.

OMC: What cocktail are you preparing at the Bartender Olympics?

The Lone Wolf
1 ounce Hornitos
4 ounce Homemade papaya/mango puree
2 ounce Sour
Mix in a Tom Collins glass

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
