As OnMilwaukee.com gets ready to host its second annual Bartender Olympics, you can prepare to cheer on the competition by familiarizing yourself with future Milwaukee Bar Olympians.
Watch for profiles of all 10 bartenders over the next two weeks and then catch the action at the Milwaukee Ale House on Thursday, Feb. 25. All in honor of friendly competition, cheer on your favorite Olympian while you enjoy deals on Ale House food and Jim Beam, Malibu, Hornitos and Jameson, Absolut and X Rated.
Here's a quick Q & A with DiAnna Bernal of Brewski's Sports Club.
OnMilwaukee.com: How long have you been a bartender?
DiAnna Bernal: Seven years.
OMC: What's your signature drink?
DB: Jameson raspberry margaritas on the rocks.
OMC: What's your favorite Milwaukee bar (other than the one you work at)?
DB: Kelly's Bleachers.
OMC: How do you get good tips?
DB: Smile, move fast and talk with everyone.
OMC: Have you ever cut someone off?
OMC: Do you believe in "beer after liquor, never been sicker; liquor before beer, you're in the clear?"
DB: No, I wouldn't know. I don't drink beer -- I'm a whiskey girl.
OMC: Are you more likely to go out for Sunday service industry night or Sunday morning brunch?
DB: Brunch, for sure.
OMC: Are you looking forward to the smoking ban?
DB: It doesn't bother me.
OMC: What cocktail are you preparing at the Bartender Olympics?
1.25 oz. Passion Fruit Malibu
Fill half sweet and sour
Fill other half cranberry juice
2 splashes club soda
Garnish with sliced pineapple
This thing reads like she was being interviewed in a concrete room that has double sided glass and a hot light pointed at her face.
She lost me at "Kellys Bleachers". Really? You live in Bar City and THAT place is your favorite? I hope this doesn't mean Brewski's is courting the same Affliction t-shirt wearing, wannabe gangster crowd.
One of the owners is the same ( I think) but the other partner that runs it is different. I dont know about any " hot muscular guy" but I stop in about once a week and always get treated like a king and the food is great. If it's not a school night I might even try one (usually all:) of their specialty shots.

I LOVE Brewski's- get there as often as I can. Dee is one of my favorite bartenders. Definitely not the same guys that own Brewski's that own JoJo's- much younger, personable, upbeat crowd and crew at Brewski's than you'll ever find at JoJo's. And with bartenders like Dee and the really hot muscular guy they have there occasionally, I think they're only going to get more popular! Can't wait for Brewers season!
