"Bar Month" at OnMilwaukee.com is back for another round! The whole month of February, we're serving up intoxicatingly fun bars and club articles -- including guides, unique features, drink recipes and more. Grab a designated driver and dive in!

I'm a complete sucker for mango. Despite the fruit's limited seasonal availability, expensive price tag and rather obnoxiously messy peeling and / or slicing process, I love it and usually ignore all the aforementioned hurdles and buy a stock.

But winter in Wisconsin is no place for a fresh mango. Therefore, when I see brands of alcohol that attempt to mimic its natural flavor, I gravitate toward them. My latest discovery is Absolut Mango vodka. No, it tastes nothing like the real deal, but in February, it's close enough.

Mixed it with various juices and pretend you're on the beach somewhere warm.

Absolut Brazilian cosmo

1 1/2 oz. Absolut Mango
1/2 oz. Triple sec
1/2 Lime juice
1 oz. Cranberry juice
1 oz. Orange juice

Pour everything into glass with ice. Stir and stain into a martini glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
