Hey, welcome back. How many of you went to the Samwell show at The Mad Planet on Saturday?

Brent and I have a smattering of good songs to play for you this week because, really, supporting local music starts with listening to it. So here you go.

The Nice Outfit will be at the Cactus Club this Friday, April 11 to perform all the fun stuff of its relatively new EP, "Kissing Jocelyn." Mark Mallman and Tim Schweiger (Ex-Yesterdays Kids, The Obsoletes) are also on the bill.

Want a dance party? Head to The Mad Planet Saturday for a massive set by Def Harmonic, with the Rusty P's, Kid Millions, Epcot & Salva and WMSE's very own Bts.Wrkng.

You probably haven't heard the rock force that is The Beowolves yet, have you? This band is not messing around. Check it out live this Friday at the Borg Ward with 36 Years and Color Me Dead. As always, Borg Ward show are all-ages.

John The Savage is gracious enough to give us all something to do on Thursday night, so the least you can do is show up. The band takes the Linneman's Riverwest Inn stage with John Muther. So there.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
