There's nothing like adding a little spice to give tequila an extra punch. I tried this Mexican Sangrita at the Chicago restaurant Maize. It was so tasty, I looked up the recipe and made a batch at home.
Ingredients:
2 cup fresh orange juice
2 tbl. grenadine syrup
1/2 tsp. chili powder
3 shots of tequila
2 tsp. lime juice
Mix all ingredients and refrigerate for two hours before serving.
Want to do things strictly authentic? Mix the juices and chili powder but leave the tequila in shots on the side. In Mexican restaurants, sangrita is often thought of as a tequila chaser.
