The Social Live will open later this month at 906 S. Barclay St. in the former Rain Nightclub. The space will serve as a nightclub on weekends and a music venue during the week showcasing local, national and international bands and DJs.

"It will be an underground New York-style nightclub, the first of its kind in Wisconsin," says Social Live’s Jeff Vasilas.

The space features a large dance floor and stage, state-of-the-art sound and video system, massive disco ball and a patio that accommodates 1,000 people.

Vasilas – who has opened nine other clubs in multiple states – says Social Live will, hopefully, open on Jan. 24 or 25.

But the vision, according to Vasilas, goes beyond Social Live and is to create a new entertainment district on the street called the Barclay Entertainment District (BED).

He plans to help open two more businesses – El Gringo’s Macho Taqueria Mexican Cantina and a German sports bar called Das Boot – by the end of summer on the same block as Social Live.

Vasilas says he is already organizing with other businesses on the street to create a website and that they may jointly advertise under the BED name.
